Las jugadoras de la selección femenina sub-20 de fútbol de Corea del Norte fueron recibidas con grandes celebraciones en Pyongyang tras ganar el sábado el Mundial que se disputó en Papúa Nueva Guinea.

Las futbolistas y su entrenador, Hwang Yong-bong, llegaron al Aeropuerto Internacional de Pyongyang, donde fueron felicitadas por altos funcionarios del régimen de Kim Jong-un y se les dedicaron intensas ovaciones y decenas de ofrendas de flores.

La ceremonia continuó en la capital, donde las campeonas saludaron a los numerosos ciudadanos que llenaban las principales avenidas para celebrar el que ha sido el segundo título mundial de la selección femenina de Corea del Norte en la categoría sub-20 tras el logrado en 2006.

Tras eliminar a España en cuartos y a Estados Unidos en semifinales, las norcoreanas lograron remontar un gol tempranero de Francia para imponerse por un claro 3 a 1 con tantos de Wi Jong-sim, Kim Phyong-hwa y Jon So-yon (de penal) en la final disputada el sábado en Port Moresby, en Papúa Nueva Guinea.

Como es obligado en Corea del Norte, las jugadoras también dedicaron reverencias y ramos de flores a las gigantescas estatuas de bronce de Kim Il-sung y Kim Jong-il, los dos primeros líderes de la dinastía familiar heredada por el actual dictador Kim Jong-un.
